About Bangladesh |
Bangladesh is a complex country with a lot of potential but limited capacity to achieve that potential. Historically the country has been poor and racked with internal and external violence. Whilst the country has inherent wealth its capacity to distribute that wealth across 156.6 million people is limited.

Geological Environment80% of the land mass is made up of fertile alluvial lowland called the Bangladesh Plain. The majority of the Bangladesh plain is only 10 meters above sea level. The monsoon season has a huge impact on the Bangladesh people as flooding happens frequently.
As at 2013 Bangladesh was made up of 67% rural and 33% urban landscapes. In that 67% rural area the country produces quality timber, bamboo, and sugar cane. Bangladesh has a tropical monsoon climate. Three seasons are recognised - a hot muggy summer from March to June; a hot, humid and rainy monsoon season from June to November; and a warm - hot, dry winter from December to February. |
